The Origins of Hawker Hall

Owned and operated by a diverse team, which includes Chinese-Muslim owners, it aims to bring delicious local Chinese Kopitiam selections into a modern dining experience for all Malaysian to enjoy. With its wide range of menu selections, it will surely satisfy the whole family. from the young ones to the young at heart. 

The modern twist of this hawker kopitiam includes fully air-conditioned environment, instagrammable corners, neon lights and statement walls.

Hawker Hall is a modern kopitiam that celebrates Malaysians’ ultimate passion: food. It serves up comfort food, Malaysian favourites and some Asian dishes. It’s a place where Malaysians can unite, enjoying good food together.

Why is it special?

They have put together a diverse range of cuisines and favourites. Which includes a generations-old recipe that hails from Penang. Uncle Lim, who is 64 years old, brings his 40 years of experience in selling Penang hawker food. He started his career at Bukit Mertajam, and eventually moved to KL. For 20 years, Uncle Lim operated his stall at Top Kitchen in Bukit Maluri, Kepong. 

With all these experiences, he brings with him to Hawker Hall his wonderful Penang varieties such as char kuey teow with fresh sea prawns, cantonese beef noodles, mee mamak, cendol, and more to come.

That’s not all.

Hawker Hall also houses nasi lemak that has a history. Pak Amin, 55 years old, has been selling nasi lemak at the road side in Cheras for over 20 years. He is popular for his delicious sambal, and of course who can resist freshly steamed coconut rice and XL size ayam goreng berempah. 

Beyond these two main favorites, there’s more to explore at Hawker Hall.

One of the owners’ mother is a Sarawakian native and has a generations-old recipe which was handed down, and now everyone can enjoy a delicious bowl of Sarawak Laksa at this modern place. The stall is called Auntie Annie Laksa, which brings East Malaysian flavours to the diverse menu of Hawker Hall.

Another proud addition to Hawker Hall is Chatujak Thai Street Food. One of the owners worked many years in a Thai Restaurant during his university days, and he brings with him his experiences of authentic thai food in a casual setting. A must try: the ever popular stir-fried minced chicken basil leaves, Thai fried rice and many more. 

The taste of history: the Hainanese Curry Rice well represented the Nanyang immigrant spirit in the early last century 1990s in British Malaya. The combination of Hainanese stewed dishes, Peranakan curry and British fried cutlets, giving you the taste of history. 

Of course, with all these dishes to choose from, you can find local kopitiam favourites such local coffee “kopi”, tea and a wide range of local drinks selections.
